Privacy policy

Last updated August 2026.

What we collect

When you sign up we collect your email address, a display name, and your zip code. If you add anything else to your profile, like a phone number, we collect that too. When you use the app we store the posts you create, the messages you send, and any ratings or reports involving you.

How we use it

Your email is how you sign in (we send a one-time code, there's no password) and how we send you a notification when someone messages you about a post. Your zip code lets us show you posts from nearby neighbors and sort the feed by distance. Your display name and town are shown on your posts so other neighbors know who they're dealing with.

What other neighbors see

Other users see your display name, town, and the content of your posts and messages. They never see your email address, your exact zip code, or your phone number. Messages between two neighbors are private to that conversation.

Photos

Photos you add to a post are public to anyone signed in to Village Barter, same as the post itself. Don't include anything in a photo you wouldn't want a stranger from a few streets over to see.

Who we share data with

We use Supabase to run our database and handle sign-in, Resend to deliver the emails we send you, and Vercel to host the website. These providers process your data only to keep the app running. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone else.

Deleting your data

Email rdrizz94@gmail.com and we'll delete your account and the personal data tied to it. Posts, messages, and ratings tied to other people's conversations with you may be kept in an anonymized form so the record stays accurate for the other person involved.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll post the update here with a new date at the top.
