Terms of service

Last updated August 2026.

What Village Barter is

Village Barter is a board where neighbors post what they need help with and what they can offer, then message each other directly to work out the details. We connect neighbors. We're not a party to any arrangement you make with someone else on the app.

Who can use it

You need to be a real person using your real first name and last initial, not a business name or a nickname that hides who you are. One account per person. Accounts are meant for individuals arranging help with their neighbors, not for running a business or advertising services at scale.

Be a decent neighbor

Don't post spam or business advertising, don't scam anyone, don't post anything inappropriate, don't harass other users, and show up when you say you will. These are the same reasons you can report a post or a person for right in the app, and repeated or serious violations can get an account suspended.

Money and arrangements

Village Barter doesn't process payments and isn't involved in the money, trade, or favor exchanged between neighbors. Any payment, trade, or arrangement is between you and the other person. Agree on the details up front and use good judgment, the same way you would with any arrangement with someone in your neighborhood.

Safety

Meet in public when you can for a first exchange, tell someone where you're going, and trust your gut. Ratings help build a track record over time, but they're not a guarantee. Report anything that feels off.

No guarantees

We built Village Barter to help neighbors help each other, but we can't guarantee the accuracy of a post, the reliability of another user, or the outcome of any arrangement made through the app. Use the app at your own discretion, and use the reporting tools if something goes wrong.

Account suspension

We can suspend or remove an account that violates these terms, and we'll act on reports we receive in good faith. If you think an action was a mistake, email us and we'll take a look.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a meaningful way, we'll post the update here with a new date at the top.
